Is your Twitter account hurting your good name?

Those of you who are using Twitter and not taking the time to “clean house” could end up paying serious consequences. Not only in business, but in your personal life and your community.

People shop the social networks. People you go to church with, people you work with LOOK for you online. That last thing that you want to happen is to have your credibility or character called into question if someone runs into inappropraite content in your Twitter profile. Whether you realize it or not, there is questionable material showing up in Twitter profiles more and more each day. Everything from x rated content, to fake Twitter accounts leading to pages containing viruses and spy files pop up all the time.

Here’s a scenario that should get the point across. Let’s say you’ve just submitted a resume’ to a new company because you’ve recently lost your job. Let’s then say that your resume’ is impressive and exactly what the company you are petitioning for employment is looking for. Now let’s say they run over to Google to type in your name. It just so happens that your Twitter profile shows up in the results from their search.

As Twitter is gaining more popularity by the day the person holding your fate in their hands clicks on your Twitter profile and starts looking around. They look to see who you are following, then they go and look to see who’s following you. They are suddenly horrified and embarrassed when four out of the 20 images listed on your first follower page contain images with x rated or other offensive content. Do you suppose that is going to have an effect on whether or not you get the job you need to keep your home from going into foreclosure? Is that really a risk you want to take?

Here’s another scenario. Let’s say your pastor or other spiritual leader in your life were to find you on Twitter one day. What is there impression going to be if they see offensive content in your Twitter profile and it looks like you’ve done nothing to manage it?

The hardcore Twitter users know that sometimes stuff shows up you need to delete, but the new Twitter user or even those who don’t use Twitter don’t know this. All they know is that they found you online and saw that you were associated with questionable people and material. Is that a rumor that you really wanted started in your name? Try explaining what they saw on your profile to the 9 year old who happens to find his/her school teacher, bus driver, lunch lady or Sunday School teacher online… good luck with that!

Bottom line is this friends, make sure you are keeping a tidy Twitter account, it’s of utmost importance! Until Twitter decides to do something about the garbage that infiltrates it every waking hour of the day, you have to… your reputation depends on it.

Have fun with Twitter and the social resources, but pay attention to what’s going on so you can keep yourself and your family safe! I’m already hearing horror stories that run along these lines from Internet marketers and friends, so protect yourself at all times.

Cheers!

How to add niche targeted followers to Twitter daily (video)

How to generate 1000 niche targeted followers on Twitter daily! Really?

In my pursuit for Twitter excellence, one of the things I have found to be most beneficial is to pay close attention to the terms of service on Twitter, as well as their blog.

Studying their terms closely revealed that Twitter will only allow you to follow 1000 people per day to your Twitter account as a standard user.

Something else I learned is that once you have followed 2000 people, you won’t be allowed to follow anymore until you have at least 2000 following you.

While I suppose you could look at these rules in a couple of different ways, I chose to rise to the challenge. “So,” I thought, “you are permitted to follow 1000 per day, eh?” Let’s see what I can do to make that happen everyday.

As my quest continued, I found a couple of key resources that helped me increase the numbers on a daily basis. It wasn’t long before I realized that I could use the same strategy I was already using( to add hundreds per day) and combine it with these newly found resources and easily reach 1K A Day!

And then it happened… 200 per day, 300 per day, 500 per day and then bam… 1000 niche targeted followers to my Twitter account in a 24 hour period.

I am finding that the more finite and targeted that I build my base, the faster it grows.  Quality attracts quality and the quality accounts get a lot of traffic.  People are searching for quality lists and databases through Twitter.  If your list and database fits the bill, not only do you get more quality traffic, you get more word of mouth endoresement through RT’s… and we all know that the best form of promotion and advertising, in existence, is word of mouth.

Here are a few tips that you can use to greatly increase your niche follower base on Twitter…

1.) Use Twollow.com for keyword search/automated following. This is a free service that allows you to enter five primary keywords that best describe your niche. The system will then automatically follow anyone who is profiled or Tweeting within your target audience.

2.) Unfollow those who don’t follow you back. If you don’t make this a habit, your Twitter account will become ineffective. After I follow someone, I generally give them 48 to 72 hours to follow me back, otherwise I unfollow. Chances are that most of the people that don’t follow back are not very active and that’s not who you want in your system.

3.) Remove ANY bots that don’t match your niche and have a unique follower base. Also be sure to remove adult related content. People look to see who you are following. If you don’t remove the garbage, it can bleed into the accounts of others. Most educated Tweeters know this and won’t follow you. A big follower base means nothing if it’s not clean, active and targeted. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Numbers are great when they are the RIGHT numbers.

I have also created a new video called “1K A Day!” that shows you everything in step by step detail.

How to generate targeted real estate traffic and leads using Twitter

I’m not even going to pretend, for a second, that I know anything about real estate, because I don’t. Truthfully, I’m one of those people that has watched the infomercials, been to Trump University… looked at it from the outside in (several times, from a couple of perspectives) but just can’t find the fire in my soul to become passionate about it.

However, I do understand sales. I’ve been in sales and marketing for 15 years now. I started selling Kirby Vacuum Cleaners, door to door, and did very well for several year.  However, back in October of 1999, I answered a classified ad in a local paper concerning business and the Internet.  Since that day,  things have never been the same.

When it comes to sales, I understand that there is one key element that we all need to be successful in life and business, and that’s people. Without people, there is no one to buy from us, pure and simple.

Twitter and several other social networking resources are making it easier, than ever before, to find and drive niche targeted traffic for ANY market that we are involved with… including real estate.  Why?  Because it puts us in direct contact with a MASSIVE amount of people.  And not just any people, I might add, niche targeted, demographic specific people!

By targeting a few key resources online, you can tap directly into your target niche, whatever that may be.  Whether you are selling information online, real estate, mortgages, software, vitamin, services, it does not matter.  All that you need to know is HOW TO tap into the right traffic stream and funnel it correctly.

If anyone is going to beat (and prosper during) the current economic crisis, they are going to need to know how to find prospects, clients, investors and more. Twitter and the social networks are the place to do it, if you know how.

There are two key elements that are going to turn this into a traffic and lead generating powerhouse for you. Niche specific, targeted traffic is (of course) the first key element and the second is a marketing system. You can learn more about how a marketing system works here.

When these two element are combined, you are on the road to generating all of the leads you will ever need both locally, nationally and internationally depending on what, where and how you sell.

I can’t cram this all into one blog post so I created a free .pdf document that will show you why, what, how and the necessary steps to take action and begin to tap into ALL of the niche specific traffic you could possibly need, starting even today.

Product Review: Hummingbird

After doing some research and seeing this product demonstrated, I decided to part with my monthly allowance (thanks babe!  LOL ;) !! ) yesterday and purchase Hummingbird.  Now I understand why so many people are using this software.

Unlike several of the other “ideas” and “resources” available for the building of Twitter, Hummingbird is by far the most common sense tool that I’ve used so far.

With Hummingbird, you get the best of multiple worlds in Twitter.  For those who are building their Twitter accounts niche specifically, this perfect because you have full control over the selection process.  With other resources that use keyword targeting, you are at the mercy of the system to follow anyone using the keywords and keyphrases you have selected.  With Hummingbird that’s not the case.  You select the people, niche specifically, and it begins to go to work.

Since the purchase of Hummingbird yesterday afternoon (with minimal effort mind you) I’ll have added 500 more  followers (and that’s me being picky, selective and weeding out those I don’t want to follow) in less than 24 hours from the time I clicked the PayPal button.  The time I’ve spent to make that happen has been less than an hour total (not counting time I’ve spent learning strategies for better use of the product.)

The value of Hummingbird goes beyoned just the software application.  You are also given access (at the time of purchase) to their private, members only forum where you can talk with other users, get ideas, watch videos (and more) so you can hone and perfect your skills in using this system.

Overall, on a scale of one to 10, it’s a definite 10 here!  Hummingbird is for any marketer who see’s and know’s the potential power of Twitter and wants to tap into it now.

Automating Twitter for the purpose of generating followers and traffic!

Nothing stirs up controversy among the hard core Tweeters like the subject of automation. While some have no problem turning themselves into a mere robot, others believe (at the extreme end) that the automation of Twitter falls right in line with Armageddon.

As many of you know, I look at and try everything when it comes to Twitter (for the most part). If there’s a training or resource out there that looks appealing, I try it out. If it works, I add it to Micro Blogging Muscle, Twitter Me This or I just blog about about? (Is blog both a verb and a noun?)

Anyway, back on point here. I’ve written of this before, but after watching another of the EXPERTS give their two cents on Twitter automation yesterday I wanted to share some ideas with those (and for those) who are choosing to replace themselves with automated Twitter tools.

In my last blog post I talked about the social networks being “social” and even provided the definition of the word “social” according to Websters online.

I’m all for using any Twitter resource that I can to build relationships because I understand that those friendships and business connections will lead to further friendships and business connections. If you are using the automated Twitter apps to bypass people, you are missing out on opportunities that could turn into friendships, fame and fortune.

The law of success is service! We make money by making friends and we enlarge our circle of friends by making money FOR THEM, by helping THEM, by being of service to THEM! You can make a money magnet of yourself, but to do so you must first consider how you can make money for other people. What benefits one must benefit all” – Charles Haanel, The Master Key System

If I am automating Twitter for only the purposes of gain for self the end result will be certain failure. “The germ of defeat exists in every selfish thought (again, MKS)”.

When it comes to adding followers to Twitter, quantity is important, but QUALITY must not be overlooked. This is why using niche specific strategies when using Twitter for business and marketing is so important.

Creating a niche specific twitter account will do a couple of things for you. First, it will provide you with quality traffic unlike most have ever experienced. Second, it will increase conversion ratios significantly. Using one niche specific Twitter account we are averaging (no joke) 9% conversion rate from sales to leads.

So for those who want to automate Twitter, great… but use your noodle. Here are a couple of pointers that will help you along:

1.) Use directories to find and follow niche specific people. WeFollow is a GREAT resource for this, as is Twellow and a few others. People will follow you back, no worries there. Look for people with large numbers of followers in your niche and follow them. This will bring more followers.

2.) Use TweetLater to ASSIST you in keeping up with the communication of your new followers. Everyone should get a welcome message from you, but you won’t have time to do them manually. Format your messages in such a way that they open the lines of communication… i.e. – “Thanks for following, how are you today?” works well. Not everyone will reply, but your message will fall much lighter on their hearts if it’s not just spam.

3.) Use Twollo to help you follow more niche specific people on Twitter using their keyword based system. This will aid you in the addition of followers.

If I haven’t driven the point home loud and clear, use the automated resources the way they SHOULD be used… to help others and help yourself, not to replace YOU!

Best of success and God Bless!

Ushering in the age of “Interactive Marketing!”

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had it up to my eyelids with people trying to pitch me on their business opportunities. Lately, it seems as though the intensity and frequency of solicitations have reached a stage of irritation for most.

It’s getting to the point that people are acting desperate (I’m not unsympathetic to the economic situation affecting many, I know some are desperate) and that desperation is causing them to treat people like a commodity. It’s causing them to put self above the needs of others when meeting the needs of others is one of the fastest ways to overcome desperate circumstances.

The irony is that the people who are finding success as a home business owner, using the Internet, are tired of the onslaught of ads… they are tired of being pitched! Engaging in conversation online only to have it go from “Hey, how are you doing…” to “I want to tell you about some so exciting…” is enough to make anyone want to hang up the phone, block people on Skype and remove “friends” from social networks. Nonetheless, there is a new wave of marketers coming.

Even the television news media is talking about Network Marketing (see here) and how people are turning back to MLM during the soft economy. This, of course, is going to bring a new wave of would be marketers, to the Internet, looking for a way to market their business to a larger audience than they can reach in their local communities.

Those of us who have been around the industry for a while understand that this wave of upstart entrepreneurs is going to bring with it tremendous opportunity. From experience, we know that those who are looking to the Internet to replace or supplement income (recently reduced or lost) are going need and be seeking information that will show them “the way.”

What does this mean for the new home business owner who is turning to the Internet as their market place? Hopefully it doesn’t mean heartache and frustration as it has in times passed. It’s actually gotten to the point, with me, where I’m not sure I want my name even associated with phrases like “Internet marketing” and “home based business” if the “norm” is going to be this continuous assault of unsolicited advertising and spam.

While I know that this industry is always going to have its “quirks”, I do believe that, with a concentrated effort, we can bring about a new way of thinking and doing to the world of Web 2.0 that defines it in its purest form… Interactive marketing.”

Think about it. Twitter, Facebook, Ning (wow, how about the changes today, awesome), Plurk, Ping.FM, FriendFeed, and all of the resources that continue to bring us all together… those who are having success with these resources know that “relationships” are key. Social networking isn’t about quantity, it’s about quality. You can continue to chase numbers or you can come into direct content with the one key element that we all need to be successful… people. It’s the “interaction” we have with people, using these resources, that bring about results.

I’ve been telling my group for months now that when it comes to doing business in the world of Web 2.0, that if you do things correctly, business just happens… and it does! It doesn’t need to be forced, it doesn’t need to be pushy, rude or desperate. By simply using the right tools and resources you can set up a system of management that will allow you the opportunity to be part of the solution and not the problem.

I’m here to help however I can… look me up on Twitter: @rexharrislive.

Viral Twitter Marketing, Auto DM’s, TweeterGetter? BAD!

There seems to be quite a bit of controversy concerning many of the Twitter tools, apps and resources available today. Hardly seems like a day goes by where I don’t hear about another tool, in a long line, that I still haven’t had the chance to examine.

For those who haven’t heard, SocialToo has removed the Direct Messaging feature from their system, leaving many Tweeters perplexed and disappointed. There are also those on the other side of the spectrum who are rejoicing at the fact that Twautomation seems to be meeting its’ demise. I was using that tool and really liked it.

When it comes to Twitter Tools, I have found that most of the problems originating from these are not because the tools are bad, it’s because they are being used incorrectly.

It’s unfortunate, because features like Auto DM, for example, can be very useful for the responsible Tweeter. If you are receiving large volumes of followers, it is next to impossible to greet them all manually. That being said, it looks like this could be the way of the future if DM services in other tools start to get shut down.

You can use an auto dm to send a quick greeting and open the lines of communication via TweetDeck or Twhirl, for example. When it comes to Auto DM, the best use IS NOT advertising or spam. My message is simple… “Thanks for following, it’s great to see you here! How are you today? Free Twitter Tools! http://bit.ly/14Rfnp” … and that’s it. Asking people how they’re doing today is not only cordial and polite, but it gets conversations started that build relationships.

Then there is TweeterGetter and the ViralTweets software. Again, a resource that has drummed up it’s share of controversy. I jumped on the TweeterGetter bandwagon from day one. Personally, I don’t have a problem with it, but can understand why some people do. At first appearance, it does appear to be one of those tools that takes the human element away from Twitter. It’s use, however, has brought me many new friends, some of which agreed with the tool, some that haven’t.

The software used by TweeterGetter (known as Viral Tweets) I really like and will continue to use it. You can use this tool responsibly, from a marketing perspective, without putting those who are Tweeting your message at risk for a spam complaint and/or account closure. For example, I have created a form on my blog here (see right upper right hand margin) where people can request a nice info package (free of charge) for simply sharing my blog with others. There’s nothing wrong with sharing quality information. I think my blog offers a pointer or two that people might find useful… ;) !!

If you are using Viral Tweets, take this into consideration when creating your message. Twitter, in its’ purest forms poses one question… “What are you doing?” If you answer that question and share links to legitimate information that will be of actual benefit to those who follow you (as well as the public thread), you are not only going to reduce the risk of spam/account closure, you are also going to build a positive reputation as someone who is doing things the right way.

As far as other tools are concerned (the list to long to name)… it’s pretty much a matter of preference. Personally, my favorites are TweetManager, TweetDeck, Twhirl. Mr. Tweet and TwitterGrader. I’m sure the list will grow the more I explore, but there are only so many hours in a day.

Apps, tools and resources are great, but what really make Twitter great is the connection with people! If the tools are resources are causing you to overlook that, then I would reconsider how you are using them.

Cheers!

Product Review: Twitter Traffic Exposed

Napolean Hill said in “Think and Grow Rich” that “the way of success is the way of the constant pursuit of knowledge.” The more I study, the more I realize that this is the absolute truth.

A friend of mine came to me this morning looking for a profile background for his Twitter page based on a new product he had just purchased. When it comes to e-books, I love em’! I don’t think I’ve ever read one that I didn’t learn something from.

Anyway, while going over the sales page of this particular e-book, I was impressed and decided to go ahead and make the purchase myself. Fortunately, it was worth the money spent!

The e-book in question is Twitter Traffic Exposed by Jani G and Ian Fernando. I dug right into the training and, before I knew it, had completed all 77 pages.

I have read several of the latest e-books on Twitter… I’ve even created a Twitter product myself. Twitter Traffic Exposed is the real deal. I didn’t find a bunch of tricks and gimmicks in this book. Instead, I found solid information on both the use of Twitter and great insight on social marketing in general.

One of the things that really stood out is the importance of have a unique profile (background image) that sets your Twitter page a step above the rest. It falls right in line with something Donald Trump said on “The Apprentice” this past Sunday. “Those who are successful in life and business have to the better than the rest, all of the time!” My dad used to tell me the same thing when I was growing up… “son, if a job isn’t worth doing right, and doing your best, it’s not worth doing at all.”

This is only a fragment of the great information contained within the pages of Twitter Traffic Exposed. If you are using Twitter for marketing and business, or are thinking about doing so, this is a great resource.

My friend Bill Mitchell informed me today that Twitter just received the coveted PR 9 on Google (page rank)… so if you aren’t already using Twitter, now would be a great time to get started as it’s only going to get bigger.

Twitter is a resource that is here to stay. It’s been the talk of the television media and is quickly becoming a household term. Twitter Traffic Exposed is a great place to learn the right way to do things both on Twitter and in the world of Web 2.0.

Long story short, four stars guys! You’ve created a winner here! I can’t wait to get into the videos tomorrow! Many thanks!

Cheers!
